Tefal Actifry Review
It's not very often that something truly revolutionary comes along in domestic chipmaking, but the Tefal Actifry certainly fits that criteria.
The device takes up to 1kg of raw cut potato chips and, with just a tablespoon of your preferred oil, transforms them into perfectly cooked chips in approx 40 minutes. The unique cooking method of the Tefal Actifry ensures the chips are crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside
Not only does that mean there is less fat in the finished product, but it also removes the need to store/dispose of the old cooking oil and reduces the lingering smell that deep frying can cause. It is also extremely easy to clean the device after using.
We've found that the best results are obtained using maris piper potatoes. The process we use is:
- Cut the chips quite thick
- Wash them in a colander under running cold water to remove the starch
- Thoroughly pat dry using a teatowel or paper towel
- Place evenly into the Actifry and drizzle over a tablespoon of sunflower oil
- Cook for 35-40 minutes

In addition to cooking chips, the actifry can also turn out great stir fries and perfectly cooked roasted vegetables - and herbs/spices can be added to the cooking too. A mix of sweet potato, parsnip, onion and carrot with oregano, chili powder and black pepper tastes great for example.
